Getting Crafty with the Kiddos!

In preparation for Christmas, I am helping the kids all make unique, hand-made gifts for their Grandparents, Godparents, and other family members! We spent much of last week and Monday and Tuesday of this week crafting away!

We are making...

Felt hand-sewn mitten ornaments:

I have the felt peices pre-cut and picked up some blunt ended needles for the kiddos to use. This project is not a quick one, but it is worth it! Everyone is having a great time learning a new skill and creating something they have not made before! It's different than painting, drawing, sculpting etc. They feel really BIG to be able to use "real sewers" (needles), as Avery says!

Wooden trees:

This has been a team effort to get these trees made! Shanon traced the trees onto 2x4's, Ollie cut the wood pieces, I sanded them down and had the kids paint them. The painting went very quickly, and they turned out really cute! Each set of three will be a gift for each of Avery's Grandparents and then we will also keep a set for ourselves! While painting these Avery kept saying "My Grandparents are going to really love these tree projeks!"

Paper tree ornaments:

These little trees are made from gluing various sized circles together to make a tree shape, then adding tiny colorful paper circles for the lights (or ornaments), and adding a star to the top and a clothes pin to the bottom!

Avery wrapped up all of her own gifts this year! She couldn't wait to give them out to everyone she loves so much! She made cards to go with all of her gifts by coloring with red and green crayon. Then she very carefully chose who was going to get each gift and wrapped them one by one and put them under the tree!
