New Year's Eve!

For New Year's Eve this year we decided to cancel our original plans of going to see Parmalee perform at the casino (Mike had free tickets and a hotel for us) and stay home! We invited Ashley and Harper over to help us ring in the new year! We decided that we were going to let Avery try to stay up to watch the ball drop with us (at 11:00) and help us celebrate... Mostly, because I wanted to smooch her at midnight!

I knew it might be hard for the girls stay up that late and knew that would have EVERY toy in the whole house taken out if I didn't have a plan... so... I made a plan!

Last minute, I ran to the dollar store and got a few fun celebration items! I wrapped all of the gifts individually... Avery's items in pink and Harper's in blue! I wrote times on each gift starting at 7:30, the girls had a new gift to open every 30 minutes from 7:30-11:00!

After dinner was cleaned up they got to open their first gift...

7:30 - Decorate a New Year's Eve Hat!

8:00 - Make an Ice Cream Sundae (I wrapped up a bowl and spoon)

8:30 - Glasses (They liked the idea of fun hats, so they dug out all of the dress up hats too!)

9:00 - Bracelets

9:30 - Popcorn (but they were too busy for a snack, so we "saved it for Murray's" as Avery does with everything she wants to save for later)

10:00 - Balloons

10:30 - Glow Necklaces

10:59 - Horns (only one minute ahead of schedule... for a reason)

11:00 - Happy New Year!!!

We said Happy New Year to our friends and then headed right for bed! The girls had so much fun, and surprisingly, opening a gift every 30 minutes really held their attention! Just as their "new toy" was losing excitement, it was time for the next one! We are so glad we stayed home and enjoyed out night with our friends!
